Apparently my eyesight has gotten so much better (-1.00!). (The doctor, during the course of our 3 1/2 minute interaction) had led me to believe that it was just my right eye that had improved). But when I put in the -1.00 contacts this morning I couldn't see a damn thing. So I had to return to the eye place to complain. After saying "oh, the machine read you at -1.00, so it must be true" they told me my eyes just aren't used to working with anything less than -1.50, so they are going to gradually break me into the -1.00. (Of course, this will require me to make at least 3 more appointments and buy at least 3 more boxes (or six, depending on the reliablity of the apparent assumption that my two eyes remain the same scrip) of $70 contacts. Can this happen? Is this normal? I would think that I would be able to see with -1.00 contacts if I have a -1.00 prescription. I don't know, maybe I rely upon common logic too much. Or maybe I shouldn't go to the cheapy eye places because they advertise better deals on contacts/appointments. In that vein, does anyone know any optomotrists who do not look disdainfully upon the uninsured?
